UFCEQD 30 M

UFCEQD-30-M Integrative Team Project

Overview

In this module, students will work in mixed-specialism groups to identify, plan, prototype and evaluate a data product, service or systematic data analysis.

The primary goal of the module is to develop team working skills in relation to data science projects with fixed time scales and deliverables. The aim is to prepare students for professional roles where team skills, stakeholder management and communication are known to be essential, in addition to the coproduction of robust data science solutions.

Objectives

  1. Apply effective problem definition and evidence-based design for innovation, improved efficiency or research insight.
  2. Work productively, equitably and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams using appropriately flexible project management methods.
  3. Select, apply and critique contemporary tools, methods and technologies using real-world data and use cases in the production of data products / application prototypes.
  4. Communicate project results, team and personal learning in a coherent and engaging way to stakeholders.

Curriculum

Students will form teams and identify/select a project for development. They will then work with a supervisor and with input from industry mentors if applicable, to plan, prototype and test the project deliverable. Development will follow a series of iterative design sprints, with validation milestones.

Assessment

  1. Portfolio (70%)
  2. Presentation (30%)
