Projects
Projects will be identified during the first phase of the module, and will be suggested by your supervisory team / external stakeholders, but you may also choose a topic from one of your own workplaces, or an area that the team as a whole is interested in. if you are proposing your own topic, this MUST be approved by a tutor before you start work on it.
Scope
Projects should be developed based on size, topic, feasibility and challenge
Naturally, projects will vary in nature, but should be sufficiently large to ensure that all members can contribute meaningfully, while enabling an achievable outcome within the time limit. The topic should be relevant to your programmes and should reflect a contemporary challenge. The project needs to be feasible and have accessible data, APIs and other tools that can be used. In terms of challenge you should pick something that you feel you can undertake, even if some substantial learning and trial & error must be undertaken along the way:
"If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting." - David Bowie
