Teams
Team formation
After a period of getting to know each other and working in randomised groups, you will be allowed to self-select into a team to work with for the rest of the module.
You will be advised and supported to form a team and should bear in mind seeking diversity in both members and skills / experience.
Anyone not in self-selected teams by the agreed deadline will be placed into a team by tutors.
Team charter
One of your first tasks as a team will be to form a charter on how you will work together. As team working can be sometimes fractious, it is really important to prepare for how you will handle different situations.
A charter might include:
- Standards of behaviour and accountability
- How to handle communication and task sharing
- How to deal with poor engagement / poor member performance
Example Charters & Templates
- Carnegie Mellon Eberly Center
- Portland State University
- Humber College
Team coordination and communication
Your methods for coordinating the project within your team and collaborating with each other will be entirely up to the team. You may choose to use university platforms for some of this work, or to use commercially available tools.
Organising subtasks
Given that you will be a group of four or five, it will be ideal to identify and delegate subtasks as you go along.
